Routing to the Outboard Equipment

This crib will guide you through using the outboard gear in Greenrooms 1 with the Audient ASP8024-HE while tracking and also during mixdown.

Whilst Tracking:

1. On the bantam patchbay, locate the channel you are wanting to send to the outboard unit.

2. Connect the ‘Channel Path’ send to the ‘(outboard unit) In’.

3. Connect the ‘(outboard unit) Out’ to the ‘Channel Path return'.

4. Finally press the insert active button in the mic pre section of the channel you’re on. This will send the signal out through the send and receive what's on the return.

By doing this you are committing to the settings on the compressor when you record.

Whilst Mixing:

1. On the bantam patchbay, locate the channel you are wanting to send to the outboard unit.

2. Connect the ‘Tape Return Path’ send to the ‘(outboard unit) In’.

3. Connect the ‘(outboard unit) Out’ to the ‘Channel Path line in' of a new channel.

In this example, WA2A out is connected to Channel 2 Tape Path-Line In.

4. This means you have your original signal on one channel and the processed signal on another.

5. Create a channel on Pro Tools for the processed signal and set the input to the channel you patched to on the desk.

6. Press Record enable and input monitoring to see the signal on the pro tools metres.

7. Press record on the transport bar in Pro Tools. When you press play the processed signal will be recorded into Pro Tools in real time.
